im in a very "leave me alone" vibe lately and the internet is just making it worse (¬_¬)
u know when u open some site or app and immediately feel that disgust? yeah. im feeling that every day.
everything is a sale
theres no safe place anymore. everyone is selling something. and its not like "hey i bought this and liked it", its always that desperate seller scheme.
courses for everything. course to get rich, course to learn how to breathe, course to become a dev in 3 days. and obviously its always on sale. "only for the next 12 minutes and 57 seconds" and then the timer hits zero and magically resets. nobody notices? everyone notices. but pretends they dont.
i open youtube and the first ad is someone saying "i was poor and now i make 50k a month working 30 min a day". know what i do? skip. everyone skips. but someone must fall for it right? otherwise there wouldnt be so many.
videos with gameplay underneath
this one actually drives me crazy. the person cant pay attention to one video alone. needs to have a game running underneath, or random minecraft images, just to hold the attention of someone with deficit of everything.
i dont get it. if the content is good, why does it need visual distraction? why does it need someone screaming on the side? why does it need editing every 0.5 seconds?
seems like humans lost the ability to consume information without constant stimulation. and worse, this became the standard. normal video now seems "boring".
instagrammable
i hate that everything has to be "instagrammable". cant eat without taking a pic. cant travel without recording stories. cant have a moment just for yourself.
everything is performance. filter on everything. nobody shows the bad stuff. only shows the cute coffee and the motivational caption.
and people became so fake. everything is content opportunity. the boyfriend became content. the cat became content. depression became content. relatives death became content. nothing is real, everything is engagement.
every app became the same place
and another thing that flopped hard. every app now is just a tiktok copy. open any social media and its the same thing. infinite scroll of short videos, algorithm shaping u, nobody actually talks. makes me so lazy to log in bc it became just a place to farm likes and start drama.
before each app had a vibe. now everything is the same. everything became short. everything became reel. everything became for you page. and we consume it without thinking.
desperate influencers
every day it gets worse. before at least they faked authenticity. now not even that. its just clickbait all the time. thumbnail with mouth open, red arrow pointing at nothing, title in caps lock.
and data collection became absurd. everything u do is tracked. everything u say near ur phone becomes an ad later. have u stopped to think this isnt normal? we normalized being a product.
and bets dont even get me started. every internet influencer now has to sponsor casinos. everyone doing betting ads. "use my code". nobody cares anymore? nobody finds it weird?
and theres still the crowd that copies content from foreign channels without even disguising it. translates the script blatantly, changes two words and done. after all they cant go without posting at all right? the crowded morning bus to work awaits...
vibe coding and layman opinions
then u add all that to people giving opinions on everything without having studied anything. vibe coding made this list bc its part of the same problem. people who never saw code in their life are now "revolutionizing" and nobody can question it. if u say something ur "against innovation".
ai generating generic content for everything. news site using ai to write articles. youtube channel using ai for script, voice and thumb. people using ai to give opinions on stuff they dont understand.
even in dev forums like tabnews its becoming this. its just ai-generated app pitches, with ai-written comments, replying to ai-generated app pitches. nobody is doing anything real anymore, just posting what the machine wrote and clapping.
and below an ad for another ai-generated app.
and theres still more
react videos dont even get me started. the person just sits in front of the camera and reacts to other peoples videos. produces nothing. just makes faces. and there are people who consume this for hours. how is this content?
and when u go read news on a newspaper site out of nowhere the whole screen blocks. "SUBSCRIBE TO READ THE REST". doesnt even let u see the beginning properly. it was an open text now it became a paywall in the middle of the sentence. go to hell.
and scam. spam. spam. aggressive marketing. scam. im tired of getting whatsapp msgs from unknown numbers offering loans, courses, and whatever. nobody asked. nobody wants. go away.
and the linkedin feed id rather not comment...
problematizing everything
cant like anything in peace anymore. everything has to be problematized. everything has to have discussion. u post that u like an anime and someone comes explain why its problematic. u say u prefer coffee and people come say ur classist.
real empathy is missing. what we have is empathy performance. "look how good of a person i am, look how much i care". but in practice nobody cares about anyone. they just want virtue likes.
and the lack of genuine attention kills me. everyone is waiting for their turn to talk about themselves. nobody listens.
i still use the internet every day. i still have online friends. i still think theres good stuff.
sometimes i miss an uglier and more real internet. the 2008 forums. personal blogs. orkut walls. it felt like people were people, yknow? now everything seems like a brand. everything seems like a product. everything seems fake.
i keep here in my little corner writing things on my hand-made site. no ads. no tracker. no algorithm telling me how i should act and what to see. and this makes me feel truly alive (´｡• ᵕ •｡`)
